Evening Skincare with Earth-Based Oils

The long days of summer call for that mindful, loving way to wrap up the day. Whether it’s a long shower washing the days adventures away or an evening skincare routine that helps you ground into your self.

Scroll down for my summer skincare routine…

Summer is so beautiful to let your skin breathe, soak in Vitamin D, and revel in the charming gifts of our earth.

Skincare is a passion for me. Personal confession- a fun read for me is reading a herbal product ingredient list. I love researching when a new plant or concept comes up. It’s pleasure learning for me.

Of course, I’m a huge natural earth-based product advocate, but I’m even more if an advocate for skincare that plays with plants, draws on generational knowledge, and truly cares about their ingredients (not just the latest trend ingredients). There is such richness and diversity in nature and every plant has a gift.

For the past 10 years, I’ve only ever used natural skincare products/ experiments. And, with Allah’s mercy, I’ve had little to no trouble with my skin. AND I find a lot of simplicity, peace, and £ value with my skincare.

Do you want to achieve smooth, clean, glowing skin while tending to your nervous system?

Follow my skincare routine where I give you the key ingredients you should prioritize in whatever products you use. But I also include purchase links to quality yet price friendly suggestions available in the UK.

my 5-Step Earth-Based Evening Skincare

  1. Oil Cleanser

Cleanser with no water or alcohol, only plant based oils (especially castor!) and essential oils.

No, oil cleanser doesn’t make oily skin more oily! Now we got that out of the way- cleanse your skin of dirt, impurities, sweat, and makeup! with an oil cleanser. Your skin feels fresh, firm, and hydrated without all the stripping feedback of other cleanser types (like alcohol based!)

Rub in small circles to remove dirt, sweat, build up. Then rinse off with warm water or warm water soaked face towel. This smell is just transporting, you feeling clean like an exquisite spa.

  2. Herbal Tea Face Steam

    Anti-inflammatory & antioxidant rich herbs

We highly recommend steaming with Nia’s Holy Balance tea with tulsi, hibiscus, lavender and rose. Soften pores, reduces redness, calms inflammation, and supports that healthy glow.

Put 1 tbsp herbal tea in a bowl and add some hot water from your kettle into the bowl and put your face over the bowl to absorb the steam. If you want a little more heat add a towel over your head.

*please be mindful of the strength of the heat

  3. Botanic Toner

    Organic Rose Water

In true Ayurvedic fashion, I’m a huge fan of pure natural rose toner. It works for all skin types, and works year round. Excellent for brightening, moisturising, toning pores, and helping with discolouration.

Generously spray face with toner. It helps restore balance in your skin and preps the skin for the oil/moisturizing.

Where To Buy: Bulgarian Rose Toner - £13.40 - alteya.co.uk

  4. Lightweight Facial Oil

Sun loving Plant oils like pomegranate, avocado, prickly pear, or moringa.

For summer heat and energy, I love choosing my face oil to include heat-loving plants. They have wisdom of the heat and the sun and because they offer plant oils for skin- without a doubt I think they carry the wisdom of caring for skin in the heat. Moringa is my favourite for its lightweight feel, antioxidant richness, and replenishes skin without clogging pores.

After cleansing, steaming, and toning, now it’s time to moisturise. Rub the face oil in between your palms and apply onto your face in smooth strokes. Option here to gua sha for firming and lymphatic drainage.
*Pro tip: add 5 drops frankincense essential oil into any face oil bottle you have to help with even & bright skintone!

What to buy: Pure Moringa Face Oil - £24.99 - aduna.com

    Pomegranate Firming Facial Oil - £28.95 - weleda.co.uk

    Frankincense Essential Oil - £22.00 - nealsyardremedies.co.uk

  5. Rich Balm Spot Application

Halaal Tallow Balm for nourishing and firming skin.

This prophetic skincare is widely claimed for its moisturising, firming, and skin nourishing properties. Tallow is getting its day in the light right now, but tallow balm has stood the test of time.

Spot apply the tallow balm to any areas needing extra TLC like under eyes, crows lines, lips, scars. Pat it onto the area and let it do its thing while you sleep at night.

Where To Buy: Halaal beef tallow balm - £18 - revyal.co.uk

Now sip that herbal tea and rest well. Enjoy the next morning when you smile at yourself in the mirror ;) Repeat this routine twice per week, consistency is key. Especially when it comes to herbal, natural wellness, it’s all about intentional integration into your lifestyle so that you start living, breathing, thinking, and sharing in that aligned way. To your well-being, may Allah help you glow!

~Unwind the day from your skin and calm your nervous system
